Question what is the going crime rate in pamama? several people have suggested retiring there, but i seem to think that drug gangs, etc. cause high crime. is that true?

Answer Dear Dan,
I do not have the crime rate index. I am not even sure there is one, I saw a report about a year ago...
However in my life span (30+) I have seen things go downhill very fast in an extremely short period, which is scary.
I suggest reading local newspapers La Prensa (www.prensa.com), La Critica, El Siglo... for everyday news and watching local news... www.tvn-2.com, www.telemetro.com where you can get a glimpse of what is happening locally.
Do not get me wrong, I love this country dearly but we must me honest, we are not that "safe haven" we use to be.
