About Laura Expertise I`ve had it for about 4 years now so I can answer a lot about it. Such as things that will help get an attack under control, what you might expect if you take Paxil and/or Ativan, symptoms that could indicate an anxiety disorder / depression and how self - esteem relates to both depression and panic disorder.
Question Hello. This is the first time I have ever used the allexperts.com web site. I saw your profile that you have anxiety/panic attacks. I've had them for about 4 years also. I've been on several different medications. Long story short, I had to go to the emergency room the other day because I couldn't sleep or stop shaking for almost an entire week. They gave me a shot of Ativan and some Ativan pills to take home with me. My doctor has now switched me to Paxil (20 mg). I just started taking them, so I'm only taking 10 mg to start out. My question is do you take Paxil and Ativan at the same time? I wasn't sure if I could do that of if that would be bad. The Ativan sure calms me down, but the Paxil isn't really working yet. Please let me know. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Lloyd Foss
Answer Hi Lloyd;
It's actually been 8 years for me now since being diagnosed (I really should change that in the profile LOL). I would try to leave at least an hour between the Ativan and the Paxil if possible. A pharmassist told me to do that if possible so that each one is separated a bit... I think it was something to do with effectivness if I remember right. I have however had to take Ativan within half an hour of taking Paxil in the morning before and nothing weird has happened because of it.
The Paxil will probably take at least 2 weeks to start working and 4-6 weeks to become fully effective.
