Question hi..i have much to say, but little space to say it, so let me compress the story. one bedroom at home seems to be a portal to the next world. my grandfather, who died many years ago, we seen in the house by my girlfriends sister, who has the ability to see the departed. now my girlfriend, today, woke up,and when she did, she saw my grandfather holding a cat that died months ago. she saw a green light, and as she stared at the light, its intensity diminished. what, may i ask, does seeing a green light signify? thank you!!

Green lights often signify land-related anomalies, not mediumistic ones.
When a person is psychically "in tune" enough with spirit energies they often "see" other things psychic in nature that are not spirit related. We call this being "psychically open".
Spirits' main interest is idenitifcation; so, this is the reason your grandfather presented himself with the cat. So he could be identified. With land anomalies, they are balls of energy with consciousness, but were not human and do not form into apparitional forms.
Everyone has some degree of (undeveloped) psychic ability; what I suggest for someone that is becoming more aware is to formally study. A good book to start out with is "PSYCHIC DEVELOPMENT FOR BEGINNERS" by William H. Hewitt, for $9.99 at most major bookstores or online.
