I can point out what is more likely, what is unlikely and site true examples from the subject. I have also been writing fictional ghost stories off and on since high school. I have been keeping a comprehensive listing of haunted sites for a long time and have visited a few local haunted sites in my area. I do not consider myself a ghost hunter or ghost researcher. I have no college or univerity training in the subject, but I have postulated a few personal theories about the phenomenon. I recently published the book, "Volunteer Ghosts," about ghosts in Tennessee.
Another thing, because ghost shows are becoming so popular, I'm getting deluged with messages from people thinking they have ghosts. Please try to bust your own experiences before asking me about them. So many people who believe in ghosts and experience things want proof so much that they are coming to me for answers.

I do not know anything about demonology; no questions about evil spirits or possession. That has nothing to do with ghosts or haunted houses.

Question QUESTION: I went to visit my brother a few weeks ago and ever since I have been back there has been strange things going on. I know he had spirts in his home, some of them being evil. Now the spirts are gone in his house. Could they have latched to something of mine and came home with me? How can I tell if the evil spirts came home with me?
ANSWER: it's possible, but without knowing just exactly what's going on, I can't be sure. Truthfully, it is so rare for spirits to leave one location for another that it is almost unlikely. Just having bad luck does not mean being haunted. Your best bet is just use a bit of common sense to figure out what is going on. In folklore, you can rid your home of bad spirits by burning white candles and sprinkling salt around your property. Let me know how things go.

QUESTION: My mother was with me as well, she has heard voices in her home. They are very low, and you can't hear exactly what is being said. And I have been woken up at night and been starring at the doorway in my bedroom. Do you think it could be spirits that have moved with us? I have never been scared in my home before, I just want to know your opinion.

Answer Try and get a recording. Place the recorder in separate places of the house to see where they are heard best.
This may not be the case, but some objects make white noise. I use a fan in my home that when it is running, it makes noises like a TV in the next room. The "voices" come and go when I turn it off and on.
