Question
Hello Evelyn I have a 6 year old newphew  he very smart and he is good student in school He has adhd And he has started to hit his parents He plays sports He seem like such a sweet little boy What could be causing this aggresive behavior it really upsetting his parents Thank you Carolyn

Answer
Dear Carolyn,

If I were you I would encourage the parents to talk with him and tell him how they really feel about his hitting.  They should say that it hurts and also that they feel hurt and disappointed and do not understand why.  See if he will tell them.  It could be something he is picking up from sports, so they could also talk with his coach. Otherwise they could see a family counselor.  It would have to be up to them.  Evelyn
