Question
I have a 5 year old grandson who likes to dress up in girls and woman clothing.. He sneaks it, we find the clothes under his bed etc.
We would like to know frist of all is this normal for a 5 year old. and how do we best handle this  situtaion so that he doesnt feel as though he must sneak? Is this an indication that he may have gay tendencies or are we jumping to conclusions... ? whatever the outcome we LOVE and adore him and don't want him to feel as though he has to hide ANYTHING from us.
Thanks for your help, Debbie

Answer
its very normal for 5 year olds to do things like this.  It is certainly not an indication that he has gay tendancies.......my advice would be to let him know that it is ok to play dress up but maybe set aside sometime for him to play perhaps on the weekend and get him a few outfits including a dress and maybe a cowboy hat.  I think the important lesson he needs to learn here is that its not right for him to be sneaking and taking other peoples things.  Good Luck.
