Question
In a few weeks im going to the hospital to have my 2nd child. My only issue is My 1st child is very anxious about me going. Over the past few months she has been whinie and will cry at the drop of a hat. This isnt her normal behavior. Is this normal or is she having trouble adjusting to the new baby?

Answer
It could be some anxiety related to the new baby.  I would suggest (and I assume you probably already do some of this) that you include your oldest child in activities to prepare for new babys arrival...let her know that she is going to be a big sister and help her get excited about all the fun things she will be able to do.  Including helping with washing the baby and helping to teach the baby new things.  One thing I did when my second child was born is I brought my oldest daughter with me to the gift shop to pick something out for her new brother I then also bought a gift and a card for her to congratulate her on becoming a big sister.  As long as you are working hard to include your older daughter it will make it an easier transition for her accepting the new baby in her home.  I am sure you will do fine good luck and congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy.
