Question
my son is now in first grade he cant write very well cant read other than some words that he has memorized wont try to read even three letter words he just complains and says he cant the whole time until i finally give up he says he doesnt care that he cant read and i asked him if he listens to the teachers lessons at school and he says no and that he doesnt know why he doesnt listen i dont know what to do he is pretty much stuck at a preschool level in academics and speaking

Answer
Tabetha,
All you can do is make an appointment with the teacher and ask for help for your son.  He may have a physical problem that is preventing him from reading well, and there are many reading specialists and resources in the schools these days who can help.  It's their job to do so. There are free tests that they can give your son to see what the problem is, and figure out the best ways to help.  Ask the school to arrange this.   Do it soon!  If you don't it will just get worse.
