Question I am a very concerned mom. My 3.5 years daughter had a choking when she had dinner last week and she was very scared and refused to eat any solid food anymore. It's been 1 week since then and she only eat yogurt and milk, juice. she did feel hungry sometime and ask for food, but after chewing a few times she started to cry and say she could not swallow.I brought her to her pediatrican, but she's fine with the physical check.
I tried the telling story method that Jame Windell introduced in his previous answers to other parents that had same experience with me, but it did not work for my daughter. Would you please recommed what i can do next?
Answer Dear Mandy
Your daughter is very sensitive and it will take more time to get over this trauma. Don't give up and don't push..She can eat many thngs that are nutritious in liquid form...(you can ask a nutritionist for help with ideas or call your Cooperative Extension office for recipes.) Move her gradually to foods like cream of wheat, and jellos and puddings and ice cream...After she gets more confident about swallowing she will try more foods again. Try James Windell's idea again next week Evelyn
