For more than 30 years I've worked with veterinarians, protective facilities, nature centers, preserves and on my own in providing care and education with regard to multiple animal species, including raptors (hawks, kestrals, owls, etc) and marsupials. In recent years I've focused on parrots, usually rescued from abusive or less than ideal situations and helping educate owners as to proper care. Answer It wouldn't be the best. We should actually avoid sunflower seeds completely since they are high fat and used quite often as cheap filler in seed mixes.
While I use Drs Foster and Smith all the time, they sometimes sell things just because people are out there ready to buy.
The very best diet for your bird would be a pellet without added color or flavor, but if your bird is very picky, go ahead and try ANY kind of pellet and every trick you can think of to get them to eat it. It's that important. It really is.
You can add a bit of natural applesauce - or human baby food from a jar, especially the orange colored varieties like sweet potatoes, squash, carrots and such.
