Buy some Vionate vitamins for your older fella. I have an Amazon who is 33 years old and he is still trying to mate with his wife! He is also tame, and learned how to talk from his babies who are now 6 & 7 years old. Just talk to him all the time. Cover his cage at night for 12 hours to insure he gets enough rest. Make sure he has a lot of wood to chew up, too. Parrots love to chew and rub their beaks, grind their beaks. This is normal behavior. They also need a lot of fruits and veges, raw. They relish peanut butter on a spoon, too. Mine love chicken bones. Sprinkle vitamins on their raw food. And make sure you mist your parrot with plain water away from drafts. They LOVE to have a mist bath! Mine go in the shower with me, but that may not be an option for you yet if you are not knowledgeable about parrots. Get a couple books and read up! Your bird will love you for it! Good luck!
