-----Answer-----
Dear Hannah,
I am not sure I understand your question. Why do you need to know "the purpose of the political process?" It's difficult to see what the words mean -- people have purposes, processes simply exist -- but if you can tell me why you want to know, that might help me find an answer.
Yours,
John
Answer Dear Hannah,
This site is not supposed to be used for homework assignments, so I will not say very much. However -- you are not going to find the answer to this one by searching the web; you have to do it by thinking. The "political process" consists of elections, meetings of Congress, etc. -- so it should be obvious what elections have to do with government! And if you think about it a little, I am sure you can see what the results of the process are, and why societies need to have some way of reaching those results.
I can't say any more without undermining the purpose of your assignment. Good luck with it!
