Question My older sister is getting married in June 2009. My family is swedish on both sides and my mom's side is full of die hard Abba/Mama Mia fans. My mom and her aunts grew up with Abba and so did my sisters,my cousins and I because our moms loved them so much. We have all seen the Mama Mia musical on Broadway, some of us more than once and we've all seen the Mama Mia movie at least twice. For her wedding my sister has requested that we come up with a dance routine to Dancing Queen for the extended family to perform at her reception. Since she is probably the biggest Mama Mia fan of us all we thought it would be fitting to throw her a Mama Mia themed bridal shower. However, I have no idea how to start planning with that theme or what to do for fun and food with that theme or anything so my question is: How do I throw an Abba/Mama Mia themed bridal shower for my older sister?

I have not seen the play, movie or am an ABBA fan. You must pity me, ha ha. But I can give you some elementary advice.
The way to plan a theme party is roughly this:
Make a list of every word, phrase, name of a place, person or thing that relates to the theme. Let your imagination soar. Get help from other brains for this storming session. Invite the most creative persons you know. Use plays-on-words whenever you want to bring a smile to your guests faces.
With this list determine any of those listed references that pertain to food, beverage, music (lots), decoration or activity. Your theme party plan will begin to form.
Kick it around until you have it the way you want. No way to be too cute or silly...people love the theme-mania effect.
