About Patty Sachs
Expertise
Anything about planning parties for weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, bar/bat mitzvahs, business promotions, fund raisers, and civic events. If I cannot answer I will direct you to the answer. I am not an expert in children or teen parties. There are hundreds of sites that specialize in that information if you google "kids parties" you will find an amazing amount of bright ideas. We do have a page on our site that leads to al the different kid's party themes, however. http://www.partyplansplus.com/themes.htm Not for those seeking information about party/event planning as a career. That information is found on the internet under "event planning careers" or at our site www.partyplansplus.com/started.htm

Party Planning - Last minute party to welcome 250 corporate guest to a new area

Expert: Patty Sachs - 10/9/2008

Question
Hi Patty,
I have been given the responsibility of providing a theme for a corporate party welcoming 250 people to a new state, in which they have been relocated. The event is to be held at a large upscale Mexican restaurant. Any ideas?
Thank You,
Lucy

Answer
Lucy:

Since you are going to be in a Mexican Restaurant it makes sense to adapt the your theme to the surroundings, food and beverage.  Something like "New Casa Celebracion" or Welcome to Your New Casa"...

Present the guests with a nice gift bag with local/state information, local map, some postcards, Chamber of Commerce materials and if you had the lead time, a set (a sheet of 30 would do) of State-Related return address labels for each family.  These can easily be printed on the computer and will be a handy thing for them to have.  The addition of any gifts or coupons from local merchants would be even better. Easy, inexpensive and festive for them.

Sounds like a great party...I am sure everyone will have a fiesta!

P.S. Don't forget festive name tags (not the corporate ones...) with first name large and former city/state.  Not only helpful for new acqaintances, but lead to conversations.
