Question hi i am planning a jack and jill party for my dad and soon to be step-mom. i have no idea what i am and doing or how to get started. could you please help
Answer Brandi:
There are dozens of themes for this kind of party and using a theme does make your planning an easier job.
You would usually take off on a hobby, talent, how-they-met, location for honeymoon, something they like to do together, or something about their personality.
I remember planning a his/hers for a couple that were ultra-organized...it all centered around organizational "gimmicks"...invitation on an index card, with post-it note attached, gifts opened according to size, guests lined up for the buffet in alphabetical order and the gifts were all geared to organization. Very cute and lots of fun.
Another fun theme was a Christmas in July theme...the couple had met at a Christmas party. Sports, movies, tv shows, holidays, etc. etc. it is endless.
So make your plan to match the couple in some way, even if it is a little silly. It should be a lot of fun and casual so that everyone enjoys themselves. A little humor goes a long way.
I know there are dozens of wedding planning sites that include how-tos for Jack and Jills...and the www.About.com site is usually loaded...link into "Entertaining". Donna has a treasure trove of information there.
Our site has dozens of themes, especially for places...
