Subject: My mom's 80th birthday party

Question
My 4 siblings and I are having a suprise bd party for our mother's 80th. We all live out of town so planning is a little tricky. We are reserving a room at a resturant and then returning back to her home for cake, etc. My sister is working on a video of memeories that we can watch together. My father died when he was very young and my mother raised 5 children alone. She has made many sacrafices along the way and we want to show her just how much she is appreciated. She is very active, bowls, plays bingo, loves music, and has a deep faith and a real zest for life. Any other ideas that you may have to make this day special would be appreciated.

The video is a wonderful idea. I have a similar gift idea that I use and recommend that involves guests (and those who are unable to attend) creating a book of thoughts, memories, photos, audio clips etc etc plus space in the back for a group photo of the day, all signed bt those attending. What this does is provide a momento for private viewing after the event. let's face it .. the day will be wonderful in any case .... this allows those heartfelt mesages to live on and on.

So ... as well as showing the video .... make the Memory Album too and have a CD sleeve in the back so that she can have a copy of the movie you make.

There is NO better way that a collection of short, meaningful personal mesages from loved ones. Then ... on the day .. perhaps a selected few (maybe 4 or 5) would like to stand at intervals and make a verbal contribution too.

Hope this sparks ideas for you ... have a wonderful day
