Question Hi, my dad's birthday is in a month and a half and I was thinking about planning his party at our camp. It is a little over an hour away from most of the guests that I would plan on inviting, do you think that that is ok to do for non-family members, ask them to travel for a birthday party?? Maybe I could say "no gifts please, just travel" or something along those lines? Thanks for your input.
Answer Dear Kristi:
First, have you discussed this with your other family members? Or most importantly, your Dad? That would be a very good step since you have doubts.
My first impression is that it is not a good idea to make it necessary for guests to travel a distance to attend a party...especially with the latest gas prices. If you wanted the best turnout you would have it in the place nearest and easiest for guests to attend. You Dad would love to have everyone there.
Why not discuss with others who would be in the planning process, like helping with details, tasks, etc.
Once you have established the place, and have any questions about details, feel free to ask me any questions you have.
