Question
You suggested I write back when we had a theme for our auction.  This is an adult affair and will be held in our school's gym.  We are a small Catholic grade school of only 153 students, are parish is aging and our budget is small.  Our theme is Lights Camera Auction.  I thought of doing an Oscar type theme, hang old movie posters on the walls, we have an arch that can be decorated with black/gold balloons. I found numerous decorations on the net but I want somethings to do unique to us only like the centerpieces, I'd like to spruce up the store bought one.  Any ideas?

Answer
One thing to do is collect various containers (need not be the same) for flower arrangement (fresh from gardens, silk/plastic/paper, etc.) and spray paint them gold/silver or black...to complement the decorative items you find on the Internet related to movies, awards, etc.  The tissue paper flower is incredibly easy and just pennies per.  They make a grand display.  We have the directions and further ideas on our site http://www.partyplansplus.com

The movie clapboards are highly popular and can be blended with the floral arrangments and other props, balloons, etc.

Posters and movie magazine photos can be posted with or without mats as very nice decorative touches.  The standard popcorn boxes would make neat seating assignments with guests name and table number.  You best leave them empty or put the program in and let the guests collect their popcorn from a popcorn cart that can be rented.

There are some cute Stand-ins that are used to pose guests for Polaroid or Digital photos...have them pay and it will be a profit. We have some neat frames, inexpensive that will dress up the photos.
http://www.partyplansplus.com/photoprice1.htm.  The Stand-ins are there as well as the links to a lot of Hollywood/Movie stuff and a total Hollywood Party Plan.

Read our newsletter for some other ideas that are inexpensive and clever. http://www.partyplansplus.com/newsletterspring08.htm

I hope this has given you some ideas to inspire you to more.

Have a wonderful party and great funds and FUN!
