Expertise
Anything about planning parties for weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, bar/bat mitzvahs, business promotions, fund raisers, and civic events. If I cannot answer I will direct you to the answer. I am not an expert in children or teen parties. There are hundreds of sites that specialize in that information if you google "kids parties" you will find an amazing amount of bright ideas. We do have a page on our site that leads to al the different kid's party themes, however. http://www.partyplansplus.com/themes.htm Not for those seeking information about party/event planning as a career. That information is found on the internet under "event planning careers" or at our site www.partyplansplus.com/started.htm

Question
I am planning a surprise (I hope) 50th birthday party for my significant other.  The theme is a tribute to his life and I will be asking his family, friends, colleagues, etc. to share pictures, thoughts, etc. to be organized in a memory book for him.  I'm thinking of reproducing the book as a party favor for all of the guests, but I want to make sure it's something they'll want to have.  I figure since they might appear in it (photo or words) that would make them interested, but wondered what other ideas you might have.  Also, some people may choose not to contribute.  What do you think of the idea?  What thoughts do you have to make sure it's an appealing "favor?"

Answer
I just did a party for my Mother and I put together a small booklet of photos for the guests to take home.  They did like it.  Making a copy of all the greetings, photos and wishes, however would be rather expensive and I don't think they would need it all.

I would select photos from her life from birth to today and make a little booklet (5 X 7) of scrapbook-type pages with captions, then add a cute cover and make copies for the guests.  This would make a very nice favor.

The scrapbook of messages is really for your Mom's eyes mostly.  That book will be a gift to her from you.

I hope this has helped.

Have a wonderful party,

Patty Sachs
