Expertise
Anything about planning parties for weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, bar/bat mitzvahs, business promotions, fund raisers, and civic events. If I cannot answer I will direct you to the answer. I am not an expert in children or teen parties. There are hundreds of sites that specialize in that information if you google "kids parties" you will find an amazing amount of bright ideas. We do have a page on our site that leads to al the different kid's party themes, however. http://www.partyplansplus.com/themes.htm Not for those seeking information about party/event planning as a career. That information is found on the internet under "event planning careers" or at our site www.partyplansplus.com/started.htm

Party Planning - Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Party

Expert: Patty Sachs - 7/23/2008

Question
Searching for creative ideas or activities for my daughter's 14th birthday party. She wants to take a few friends to see the new Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie and then a sleepover.

Answer
That sounds like a lot of fun...creative and memorable for the guests.  A few ideas:

Keep track of facts and do a Traveling Pants Trivia game after the movie.

Provide crafty stuff like paints, glitter, jewels, etc. for guests to decorate a jeans item...pants, purse, hat, etc.  Have them bring a jeans item of their own.

Make a video or take digital photos of the girls creating and then modeling their decorated items--make a CD of the production for each girl.

Another short game: put together a list of questions that have answers related to clothing...Song, book, movie, tv show titles or places, persons or things.  Let your daughter help with this, but you put in some that she doesn't know so she can have some fun, too.

You could also make up this list and turn it into a Charades game.

Give some fun Jeans patches for prizes.

Those few ideas will very likely inspire you on to others of your own.

Have a wonderful time helping your daughter plan her party...make it a pre-party in itself.
