AboutPatty Sachs Expertise Anything about planning parties for weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, bar/bat mitzvahs, business promotions, fund raisers, and civic events. If I cannot answer I will direct you to the answer.
I am not an expert in children or teen parties. There are hundreds of sites that specialize in that information if you google "kids parties" you will find an amazing amount of bright ideas. We do have a page on our site that leads to al the different kid's party themes, however. http://www.partyplansplus.com/themes.htm
Not for those seeking information about party/event planning as a career. That information is found on the internet under "event planning careers" or at our site www.partyplansplus.com/started.htm

Question My mom...simply wonderful! I have never thrown a big affair but really feel
my Mother is quite overdue for some "center of attention" spotlight of an
evening focused on her as the GOH. I am not at all sure what is proper and
"etiquette" wise. I am not exactly in a position of $$ as I am a student : ) Just
wondering if you could give me some "musts" as to be sure I don't offend
anyone in asking for help in planning a celebration of this wonderful woman!
We live in MA, most guests live...everywhere all around New England -mostly
CT.
Wanting to find people she went to school with and such with absolutely no
contact info to start with.
What am I looking at for a timeline for invitations and such things on the "to
do" list?
and anything you know I would need to be informed of??????
THank you!!!! Thank you!!!! Thank you!!!
Answer Sherry:
The scope of your question is so wide that I could write a book on it...in fact, I have. ha ha.
I suggest that you google "party planning schedule" to see what comes up in an overall planning advisor...that is, to include all the "to do" details and the timing of them.
The thing is that something like "when to send the invitations" differs for each type of event--the party you are talking about would be similar to a wedding if you would like folks to travel in for it. Travel plans need to be made well in advance.
Setting a theme, designing the event, making that detail schedule, all have a spot on your planning list. I am certain that you will find that whole list of suggestions on one site.
Party411.com has a great forum, as well, to communicate with other hosts who have ideas and resources. But there are dozens of such sites. Ours has more ideas, not an overall planning guide like what you are needing.
I wish you great success in planning this special occasion for your special Mom.
