I am not an expert in children or teen parties. There are hundreds of sites that specialize in that information if you google "kids parties" you will find an amazing amount of bright ideas. We do have a page on our site that leads to al the different kid's party themes, however. http://www.partyplansplus.com/themes.htm
Not for those seeking information about party/event planning as a career. That information is found on the internet under "event planning careers" or at our site www.partyplansplus.com/started.htm

Question My brother and his wife are expecting to have a baby in November. They live in AZ and aren't able to make it up to Washington for a baby shower. So, I thought it would still be fun to give them one via invitations for gift cards. My problem is that I don't know how to ask our family and friends to just send me gift cards that I can gather and then send them all down to her in one big present. If you could help me with the wording that would be great. I just don't want to be tacky.
Thank you!

Since there are so many different takes on this subject I am not comfortable posing as an "expert" in such a controversial concept. But I wanted to give you a hand up in your search.
I pulled this link from Google for you to surf through for some ideas and suggestions from other hosts. They do address the invitation wording and possible themes that they have used.
Be sure to run it all by the parents-to-be before you go ahead, to be sure they are comfortable with the wording and spirt that is surrounding your effort.
It is a little extra work, but you could have folks purchase small, shippable items possibly from the baby registry and send a wonderful goodie box for not a terribly lot. This way the givers can see what they are giving the couple and have the pleasure of shopping for these items.
In the case of wearables there is a great opportunity for the baby to be photographed in the gifted outfit, etc. and sent to the giver as a thank you later. This is more like a shower party. I have heard of the parents-to-be opening the gift while the video cam is running and dvds were sent to each gifter as a thank you.
Those who are more wanting to give a gift card can do so and you can pack it up with the in-reality gifts.
I believe this would satisfy every person's wishes.
Best of luck to you, Abby. It is a very nice idea.
