About Patty Sachs
Expertise
Anything about planning parties for weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, bar/bat mitzvahs, business promotions, fund raisers, and civic events. If I cannot answer I will direct you to the answer. I am not an expert in children or teen parties. There are hundreds of sites that specialize in that information if you google "kids parties" you will find an amazing amount of bright ideas. We do have a page on our site that leads to al the different kid's party themes, however. http://www.partyplansplus.com/themes.htm Not for those seeking information about party/event planning as a career. That information is found on the internet under "event planning careers" or at our site www.partyplansplus.com/started.htm

Party Planning - Gifts for Retirement party

Expert: Patty Sachs - 5/20/2009

Question
My principal is retiring. We as a group of teachers are giving her a party at school and presenting her with a gift. The principal has invited her staff with individual invitations to her own retirement party; should we give her individual gifts?

Answer
Frustrated because I wrote a response to you and when I hit spellcheck it was totally deleted...arghhhhhhhhhh.

So here I go again:

A significant collaborative gift at the staff party is adequate for both events, however if you would like to take another, say, token gift for her party it would be just fine.  This one could also be collaborative, light-hearted such as a humorous t-shirt or hat, referencing her retirement.  If a humorous gift is not apt, another gift such as an address/phone book with the staff information entered, would likely please her.

I hope these ideas have been helpful to you.

Best to you and congrats to her!

Patty Sachs
P.s. No spell check on this one.
