Question Hello! So, its my 13th birthday in just over a month, and i really want to do something special that people will remember! I was going to take a few friends and have a party on a boat, but then i could only invite seven friends, and i want a large party! So, i then wanted a party in my local club. Its in the middle of a council estate, therefore is quite rough, and my parents wouldn't let me. So i've finally come up with having a garden party (7-9 pm). Were going to invite around 50 people, rope of a section of my garden with christmas rights for a dancefloor. Borrow my bestfriends singstar! i'm going to check out our school bands, weve got some good one's and live music would be amazing! I'm thinking about getting a dartbord, loud music, my trampoline and air soccer. My dads going to go around taking photo's like a photographer. I'm going to put my 10 person tent up so people can get some piece and quiet if they want. i'm going to run a few orginised games like limbo ect.. So, i really need to know some good idea's on great party food! What do people like? What are the best 'grown up' but still fun party games? What coulor theme should i go with? Will my neighbors mind loud music? I've perposly done it so the party's not late, so the party wont interupt them. what if no body dances? Should it be show your invo at the door? knowing how quikly a party gets spread at my school, i could end up with 200 kids, and my dad would NOT be impressed. Please could you give me some ideas? Thanks so much!
Em (:
Answer Hi Emma!
Sounds like you're planning quite an event. Outdoor parties are alot of fun.
Regarding your questions...
So, i really need to know some good idea's on great party food! What do people like?
Depending on your budget, a chocolate fountain always goes over well. Everything from fruit to pretzels can be dipped in the chocolate. Another delicious party food idea is to have a selection of several different nacho dips. Also, pizza can be fancied up a bit if you make them Yourself by covering pita bread with your favorite pizza toppings and baking it for about 12 minutes.
What are the best 'grown up' but still fun party games? Since you're creating a sophisticated outdoor party and you've got dancing planned, how about if you set up some casino type games? There are several ideas for that at http://www.diva-girl-parties-and-stuff.com/casino-theme-party.html
What color theme should i go with? That depends. There are several ways you can go. If you're having a mixed party I probably wouldn't choose pink. Bright colors like red, yellow, orange, blue, etc. would fit great with a casino or luau theme. Light blue and navy blue would fit well for an elegant theme.
Will my neighbors mind loud music? That depends on your neighbors. You may want to check on the bylaws of your town or city. Most places allow louder music till a certain time, but that is not always the case. In some towns I've been in if someone complains the music has to be turned down.
What if nobody dances? Hmmmm... do your friends dance at school dances and parties? If they usually dance at parties and school dances they'll probably dance at your party too. If they don't usually dance, don't expect that they will now. You may have to throw in some fun challenges on the dance floor to get them moving if dancing is what you have your heart set on.
Should it be show your invite at the door? If there is a danger that uninvited guests will show up in droves, you'll want to be sure there is enough adult supervision at the party and available for things like checking invitations.
