Question My father-in-law is turning 75 this year. We want to have an elegant party in his honor. Do you have any suggestions in terms of subtle themes, decorations, etc. It will be black tie and very elegant.

Answer For elegant formal evenings we try to think of them as 'Oscars' Style events. Everything very sharp, with silver/ Gold and black. Starcloths are available to hire and are very effective. Contact an event hire company and they will provide you with some useful ideas on how to dress the venue. Create atmosphere with soft music, either via a PA System or a live quartet. Serve a personalised cocktail for guests on arrival and canapes will tide people over until a meal if you are provididng one. Balloon Sculptures are a very cost effective but effective decoration. Using high quality Silver or Gold Helium balloons creat spirals, you should be able to find a local company that can do this for you, to line the entrance and around the dance floor area if applicable.
