Subject: decorating for a Ball

Question
Hi,
I am decorating a ball for around 1600 people, set in historic grounds, with a variety of tunnels, quads, lawns, trees and a lake, as well as marquees, tents and indoor rooms.

Our theme is 'immortalitas', and so I am looking to create a feeling of enchantment  and wonder through the grounds, eg with lighting in the trees, floating candles on the lake or light sculptures hung over it and through the trees.

Do you have any more ideas as to how to create this feeling throughout the Ball?

Thanks for your help,

Hannah

LOVELY idea .....

Smoke ... as any lights (lasers) will then show more.

Living statues

Stiltwalkers (and other mimes, performers)in character

Sound effects

Lighting is probably THE most effective way ... and changing light states are SO effective .... you can go from cold through warm to different moods easily with a good designer and simple computer board.

Then (as I said above) I think actors / characters will add a LOT as they are a) alive and b) can move and reposition so can work where people gather. Here in the UK there are many many groups and troupes who do this kind of work....
