Question on the pathology report 2 slides showed extensive acute inflammation with microphages and occasional collections of follicular cells. Large numbers of neutrophils are admixed with occasional lymphocytes and macrophages. Also the ultra sound in 2004 and 2008 said i have 2 nodules and when i got the biopsy they said i had just one, it has acute inflammation severe bland follicular cells and colloid with focal reactive atypia. I am not happy with the answer my doctor gave me to come back next year to have it checked out why is it inflamed and what can i do can i have it removed?
Answer Hello Jane:
This is a descriptive report - just telling what is seen.
The neutrophils seen could be because the aspirate was admixed with blood. Only a person who has seen the slides can comment on their significance.
Overall there is nothing highly suspicious of cancer. you can ask the pathologist about the diagnosis. On that basis we can decide on further course of action.
