Question
High Thanks for your help, I just got my test and My MVP is 6.7 and my Alk Phos is 122 and My Alt is 60. Can you tell me what this means. I am worried about cancer.  What would cause these to be abnomal and  can I do something  to change them for the better.
But should I be concerned. Thanks Charlene

Answer
Hello Charlene:

The Alkaline phosphatase(ALP) measure the level of the enzyme in blood and this is produced by the liver.
This test is done to check for liver or bone diseases. Your level is just at the upper limit (Normal range 30 -126units/lit)
ALT is another liver enzyme and it ranges from 4-36 units/L This is mildly elevated in your case.
This may be seen if there are fat deposits in liver, certain drugs can cause this much elevation, inflammation  or infection of liver, alcohol abuse etc.

The MPV (mean platelet volume) is a value obtained in automated hematology counters and provides information about platelet size indirectly by measuring the platelet volume. This is low. However no specific disease conditions are associated with low MPV

Overall none of these tests indicate cancer at this point
