Expert: Neha Dahiya MD - 5/21/2009

Question
hello i recently went for a psychical  exam for a new job and they drew routine
labs cbc & cmp everything was with in normal limits except my monocyte count
which was 4.3L normal range 6-12 this is really concerning me and I am
freaking out please help what could this be indicative of? Thanks in advance!

Answer
Hello Lucy:

Please do not be unduly worried about a single low value of monocytes.
All the normal ranges of blood cell parameters are arrived at as an average of a set of normal population. Some healthy individuals may fall outside this range.

In addition the values are dynamic next time you have this checked it may fall within the specified range.
