Question

Hi, My 3YO son's CBC with Platelet count lab test result has the following:

Basophil: 0.03
Atypical Lymphocyte: 0.01
RBC Morphology: Normocytic normochromic

Can you help me understand what this means please?

Thank you so much!

Answer
Hello Donabel:

Basophil and atypical lymphocytes are type of white blood cells  seen in the blood. Both are within normal range.
The RBC morphology deals with the appearance - shape and size of the red blood cells. These too are normal (normocytic - normal size and shape and normochromic - with adequate hemoglobin)

There is nothing to cause undue concern in these results.
