Pathology - MELANOCYTIC NEVUS

Expert: Neha Dahiya MD - 6/16/2009

Question
Unlike Greg who asked about the pathology found:compound melanocytic nevus,  I have a history of Clark level 2 melanoma with negative sentinel lymph node. Now, recent results from 6 biopsies from my back have 2 with compound melan. nevus  and 1 with atypical cells.  Do I really need to have further excising of these lesions when I could potentially have 50 more with all the flat nevi that I have.  Is further excision necessary? thank you for your help in advance

Answer
hello Carrie:

There is no need to have more lesions excised. However do keep a visual track of them If you notice any increase in size, irregularity of shape, change in color, pain etc in the lesion consult your dermatologist.

Other than that you should be fine.
