Pathology - psa

Expert: Neha Dahiya MD - 8/22/2009

Question
I am just turning 48 this month. I also just had my annual physical. my psa was .08. the last time it was .07 back in 2007. my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer when he was 74 . What I undertand this slight increase is normal !

Answer
Hello Henry:

I apologize for the delay in answering, due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to attend to your question.

PSA below 4 ng is considered normal. Every time you  get tested there will be a minimal variation.

0.8 is absolutely normal and nothing to worry about.

Please  get your test done at the same lab so that a single procedure and equipment is used. This helps to track any changes much better.
