I received a copy of my blood tests results today and would like your help in understanding them.
Chloride 109, CO2 19, platelet count 472, monocyte % 1, and a note on the bottom says "few atypical lymphs".
I also had blood work done a few months ago which resulted in a phone call from the Dr.'s office telling me that I had lymphocytosis and needed the blood work done again. I didn't receive a copy of those results, just the phone call and request for follow-up bloodwork. I don't know if that helps or not, but thought I'd let you know about it.
Thank you for your time and expertise,
Diana
Answer Hello Diana:
All the above results are within normal range. The chloride is just at the upper limit.
Lymphocytes are a type of blood cells and if atypical they are neither normal nor do they fit clearly into cancer cells.
Such cells can be seen in infections also.
What is more important - the number of atypical lymphocytes and have they increased in number than previously reported.
If there is an increase, the doctor should evaluate and decide on otehr tests like a bone marrow if indicated.
