Question
would you be so kind to interpret my hematology report
Normocytic normochromic RBC. Occassional normocytic hypochromic cells. Occassional acanthocytes and schizocytes.
WBC adequate with almost equal predominance of segmenters and lymphocytes. Most of the segmenters with toxic granules. Atypical lymphocytes seen. No evidence of prematurity.
Platelets adequate occassional large forms and clumps seen.

Answer
Hi Angela:
Normocytic normochromic RBC. Occasional normocytic hypochromic cells. Occasional acanthocytes and schizocytes.

This describes your red blood cells . Majority are normal in shape, size (normocytic) and amount of staining (because of hemoglobin content (normochromic)
Few cells are hypochromic - this would mean decreased staining due to less hemoglobin. There are also abnormal shaped red blood cells and fragmented cells (acanthocytes and schistocytes)
The White blood cells are basically normal. Some lymphocytes are however in between completely normal and clear cut cancer cells hence atypical.

The platelets ( cells which help in clotting of blood)are adequate in number though some of them are clumped.

This indicates you may have mild anemia which is normocytic normochromic type. this is seen in variety of conditions.

I cannot comment more on this as I have not actually seen the hematology slide.
