Pathology/High hematocrit and neutrophils

Question
Hello,
I have had lupus for 22 years. I recently did my standard bloodwork. ANA is positive and c3 complement is low, as is usual for me.
However, this time my hematocrit was high, and my absolute neutrophils were also high.
Could this be diagnostic of some hematological disorder ?

Answer
Hi Jo

The commonest cause for high hematocrit is dehydration. Smoking, living at high altitude also increases the hematocrit. If none of these cause apply to you, please have an evaluation. By your doctor to rule out kidney, lung or a rare blood disorder.

I apologize for the delay in replying to your question.
