Question
Hi doctor, I have a question regarding the lab result of my friend in gram stain. The result was:

Rare pus cells
Rare epithelial cells
Rare gram positive bacilli
Rare gram positive cocci in pairs.

What does it mean? Please answer..

Thanks.

Answer
Hello Cher-an

What body fluid was examined by gram stain. Regardless it does not show anything serious. There are extremely few bacteria (bacilli and cocci - these are rod shaped or rounded bacteria). Occasional pus cels - which are white blood cells on body and help fight infections .

Most likely this is from an infection site which is subsiding.
