Question In july of 2006 my son had episodes of vomiting and diar, only at night, They tested him for everything underthe moon and his test were reletivly normal. problem is that is when he started having reacurring ear infections. (vomiting and diar lasted for over 1 month) and upper respitory infections as well as bouts of vomiting for no apperant reasoning. We have recently switched ped due to the lack of care his former ped gave him. My question is how likely is the vomiting and diareah related to the anitbiotic resistant ear infections and upper respitory infections in your opinion.
Answer Children with ear infections will occasionally have some vomiting and diarrhea, but it's usually mild and doesn't last very long. Respiratory infections will produce more secretions that are swallowed. This can lead to some vomiting and loose, mucousy stools, but again, it's usually not very severe, and doesn't usually last very long.
If he was tested for infections and parasites, and the tests were negative, you have to think about some type of food that can do this. If it happens again, he should see a pediatric gastroenterologist and have more testing done. If it's gone and he is back to normal, then be glad he's ok. You may never figure out what caused it.
