Question My daughter just turned 3 last month. She woke a week ago with a raspy sound to her voice, that has never gone away. She says her throat doesn't hurt. She has no fever, and seems to be in great spirits. She's talking and singing a lot. Is this just something that happens at 3?
Answer Hi, Alex,
Three year olds don't go into puberty (thank goodness!).
This is either a low grade virus or an overuse syndrome. If the sound is really different and persists, sometimes people will develop problems with the vocal cords (polyps, for example). She then should be checked by your doctor.
