Pediatrics - my 3 month old daughter
Expert: Dr. Taher Kagalwala - 10/24/2009
Question my 3 month old has became ill with a viral infection. i noticed a lump on her left breast today and do not know if this is normal due to hormones during pregnancy or if i really need to be concerned. could you help me please? i cannot afford to take her to a Dr. unless it is an emergency or for shots. we have no insurance benefits
Answer Dear Sara,
I am sorry but this is not a normal hormonal change. That type of thing is seen on both breasts, and usually within the first fortnight after birth, not at 3 months. I don't know how you should do this, but you do need to see her doctor if the lump is increasing in size, or is itchy, painful, red and inflammed, or if there is fever.
