Question This will sound like a foolish question but my grandson (age 20 months) was taken to our Doctor today, His urine smells a bit strong and he has a fluctuating temperature. Doctor wants a urine specimen to see if there is some sort of urinary tract infection. Any ideas for getting a sample from such a young child??
Answer ask for a bulb or bottle or cup from urine analysis laboratory, let the child pass some urine and take a mid-stream sample as much possible.
many parents prefer to attach a self sticking urine collection bag around penis. one needs only 5 ml urine for testing.
in some cases.. in hospitals doctors do it by passing catheter or pricking the bladder.
