Pediatrics - crawling

Expert: Mary Pat, R.N. - 10/27/2009

Question
my 8mon daughter not starting crawling she can walk with walker forward and backward is it normal

Answer
Most babies process through the developmental stage of crawling.  If she is seated in her walker and walks that doesn't count as walking.  I would talk to her doctor about her lack of crawling but I would give her another month to begin to crawl.

Also, we frown upon using a walker.  Too many babies are injured in walkers as they can easily topple over.
