About David Olson, MD
Expertise
I would be happy to attempt to answer any questions about general pediatric topics, either medical issues or behavioral issues. This would include all the various questions one receives in a busy pediatric practice. I`m a board certified pediatrician in northern Michigan and have been in practice for over 15 years. I enjoy the teaching role I have in our practice and would enjoy the opportunity to help others with their pediatric problems.

Pediatrics - my son is 2 mos. and coughing

Expert: David Olson, MD - 11/1/2009

Question
Dr.Olson,
My son is 10 weeks ago and he has a cough, no fever, no vomiting, he does have reflux but other than that everything seems fine but the cough worries me could there be something wrong?

Answer
Hi, Angie,

If the cough is for a few days, then this is probably a low grade viral illness.  If it is over a long time, then this may be due to the reflux or countless other things.  If he seems fine and just is coughing, follow things.  If he is getting worse, then see your doctor.

Good luck, Dr. Olson
