Question Hi,
I have a 11 month old baby. I need to wean her from
breastmilk. She is used to taking the bottle because I have
been expressing breastmilk for seven months. She takes the
bottle quite easily. All her night feeds are on the breast.
I tried to wean her from breastmilk and she refuses the
bottles with the formula in. I also need to replace the
night breastfeedings with bottles. Any good advice.
Answer Dear Rulene:
Pump breast milk and try and feed by bottle during the night. Gradually replace the breast milk with whole milk (doesn't need formula at this point) by removing one ounce of breast milk each day and replacing it with whole milk. This way the baby can adjust gradually to the change in taste. Be patient, be calm and persist in trying to change habit.
