Pediatrics - 7 month old wheezing

Expert: Dr. Taher Kagalwala - 7/6/2009

Question
My 7 month old son has been wheezing for a long time..His pediatrian has dianosed him with a respiratory infection a few months ago and then he had a throat infection. He was on antibiotics and breathing treatments. Every time I take him for his check up she tells us he is fine but then he starts wheezing again within days. so now he is wheezing and he seems to be having a harder time breathing.. my question is what kind of doctor do I need to take him to, to get him better.. and what could this be?

Answer
A pediatrician is the right person to take him to, but if you are not getting the correct answers or relief from him, request a second opinion. This looks to be an allergic childhood wheeze. It may also follow certain viral infections of the lungs.
