Question My 10 week old daughter started sneezing a lot today, accompanied by a slight dry cough. This evening her eyes got very swollen and red (the skin around her eyes are red not her eyes themselves) and they are tearing. When her now 2 year old sister had the same problem at around the same age her doctor told me to use a small dosage of benadryl. So I called the after hours clinic to find out the dosage and they gave me the standard response, that children under 2 shouldn't have benadryl. So my question is what is the dosage of benadryl for a 2 and a half month old?
Answer legally there is no dose of benadryl at this age.
it appears like allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, but surely it must eb confirmed by a specialist as its likely to have mistakes of diagnosis by hear say like this. one may give antihistamicn syrups like say chlorpheniramine or avil..a nd doe may eb just 4 drops. but you shouldnt use it without showing the baby and medicien to a doctor.
