Question My daughter was weighed at 8 months. She had not gained any weight from the previous month. She ate well with breast milk on demand (roughly ever 4 hours except during the night) and one feeding of baby food along with breast milk at bedtime. When we weighed her today at 9 months, she had lost almost a pound. Now we are very concerned even though she seems very healthy, and is very alert and playful. She has not been sick at all since she was born and had only a slight diarrhea for a day or two, two weeks ago.
Being the holiday season we cannot get into our doctor until January and would like to know if this is something we need to go to the hospital emergency to check out.\r
Answer if you had checked on separate weight scales such issues may occur at times.
The weight gain rate slows after the age of 6 months. Most doctors will not worry if the infant weight is 9 kg throughout 7 month to 12 months,
switch over to cereal based complementary feeding.
