Pediatrics/Blood in toddlers stool

My 2.5 year old has had red blood and black coffee ground looking stool for 4 days now. The dr can't see her for a few days still. Does this warrant an Er visit.
Her diet has been bland and nothing new.
She's fussy and more irritable lately but not complete activity change. I do note bags under her eyes like she's not resting enough though.
Photo of stool if needed

Hi, Beth,

Bloody stools, with red and darkened blood, always need some evaluation.  If she is stable, not acutely ill, your doctor visit in a few days would be fine.  If she is getting worse, give your doctor a call and see if they can see her sooner.

Good luck, dr. Olson

I would be happy to attempt to answer any questions about general pediatric topics, either medical issues or behavioral issues. This would include all the various questions one receives in a busy pediatric practice. I`m a board certified pediatrician in northern Michigan and have been in practice for over 15 years. I enjoy the teaching role I have in our practice and would enjoy the opportunity to help others with their pediatric problems.
