Question
Hi Dr. Olson,

When I took my son (age 2) to visit a friend today, she kissed my son on his lips several times. I didn't feel comfortable to stop her. But I am worried if she could pass some disease to my infant. How bad it could be when infant is kissed on the lips?

Thanks for answering my question!

Michelle

Answer
Hi,

Sorry for delay.  Forget to set my vacation dates.

I'm not to worried about your baby, but the notion of kissing non family members on the lips is a bit strange to me.  Best to give a peck on the top of the head, if you want to do a kiss.

Good luck, Dr. Olson

I would be happy to attempt to answer any questions about general pediatric topics, either medical issues or behavioral issues. This would include all the various questions one receives in a busy pediatric practice. I`m a board certified pediatrician in northern Michigan and have been in practice for over 15 years. I enjoy the teaching role I have in our practice and would enjoy the opportunity to help others with their pediatric problems.
