Pediatrics/colic baby

My baby is4.5months old n he still suffers from colic. Till how long will this continue.?have tried all medicines prescribed by doc.nothing works. He cries a lot in evening.any ayurvedix medicine or home made remedy that helps

Hi Patel,

I have hardly ever prescribed any medicine for infantile colic. It is largely a behavioral issue and does not require any medication. Babies usually need some sort of "change" in evening. Try not to give any medicine, but find out what soothes your baby best: e.g., taking the baby out/ rocking/ patting. roaming around with baby, caring by a person other than usual care giver, etc. When you find out what works best out of these for your baby, then promptly start ding that at the ONSET of the episode of excessive crying: It will be of great help to the baby.

2 more tips regarding this: 1. Do not try anything that you can't do everyday. For example, if your baby is soothed by a car ride, be prepared to that every single day!

2. Try to be happy and calm. Anxiety of caregivers IS transmitted to babies and can also manifest as infantile colic. If caregiver is anxious, baby won't be smiling!!

Best wishes,
