Question
I am wondering when does spitting up usually stop in babies?  My dd is 9 months and still spitting up off and on several times a day.  Very small amounts but I have to keep her in her saucer for at least 45 minutes after eating or she spits up a whole lot.  She isn't on any medications for reflux and she doesn't have any other symptoms of reflux.  She's gaining weight great and eats really good.  When does the spitting up stop?

Thanks.

Sandy

Answer
Dear Sandy:

Some babies spit up more often as they become older and this is due to their increased activity.

We call these babies "happy spitters" for they are happy babies who thrive.

Your baby may spit up until she is walking.  It is an annoyance and I realize concerning but it is nothing to worry about and is quite common.

Sincerely,

Mary Pat
